The BET Awards took place Sunday night at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, where Victoria Monét, Killer Mike, and Usher emerged as notable winners.

Tyla kicked off the evening by winning Best International Act and later secured Best New Artist.

Usher received a Lifetime Achievement Award and was named Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, while SZA, absent from the event, claimed Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.

Killer Mike’s album “Michael” earned him Album of the Year, and Monét took home the BET Her Award and Video of the Year for “On My Mama.”

Regina King, also absent, was honored as Best Actress.

The ceremony featured performances by Will Smith, who debuted his new song “You Can Make It,” a tribute to Usher, and a speech from Killer Mike.

Taraji P. Henson hosted the event, which aired live on BET, with Megan Thee Stallion opening the show with an energetic performance emerging from a giant egg, reminiscent of her album cover for “Megan.”

Other performers included GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Tanner Adell, YG Marley, and more.
