Controversial social‑media commentator, VeryDarkMan, has taken aim at Nigerian superstars, Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid.

He accused them of ‘tone‑deaf extravagance’ after each purchased luxury cars worth several billion naira while many Nigerians struggle with soaring living costs.

The outburst followed news that Burna Boy had just taken delivery of a brand‑new McLaren Sienna.

The new car reportedly cost ₦3.5 billion.

This makes him the first African owner of the model.

Mere hours later, Davido was said to have splashed ₦1.2 billion on a 2026 Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680, while Wizkid’s own ₦1.7 billion super‑car purchase only months earlier is still fresh in fans’ memories.

In a widely shared Instagram video, VeryDarkMan questioned why the artistes appeared unmoved by their country’s economic woes.

This is especially the hardships facing the very fans who fuel their charts and streaming numbers.

Although friendly with Davido, he did not spare the singer.

Burna Boy just bought a ₦3.5 billion car, Davido spent over ₦1 billion the same day, and Wizkid did the same a few months back,” he said.

Do you guys ever read the room? Have you forgotten the country you come from?”

Turning to Davido directly, the critic demanded evidence of tangible community impact.

Davido, you’re my guy, but what can you proudly say you’ve done for Osun State? You’ve benefited from Nigeria and your fans—what can they say they’ve gained from you since the election campaign videos for your uncle?

VeryDarkMan’s comments have reignited debate over whether Nigeria’s most successful artistes should temper public displays of opulence and channel more of their wealth toward easing the hardship felt by the communities that helped make them global stars.
