Following technical and human errors in the original Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) organised a resit that saw over 200,000 more candidates score above the 200 average mark.
The errors occurred in 157 centres across Lagos and South-East states
This led to compromised results for nearly 380,000 candidates.
JAMB attributed the issue to faulty server updates that disrupted the upload of responses.
Amid public pressure, the board investigated and offered a resit for the affected candidates.
The resit results released on May 26, 2025, showed a marked improvement.
While the original results had over 1.5 million out of 1.9 million candidates scoring below 200, the resit helped reduce that figure to 1,365,479.
The number of candidates who scored 200 and above now stands at 565,988.
JAMB noted this year’s results reflect better performance since the introduction of the Computer-Based Test in 2013.
For instance, 117,373 candidates scored 250 and above in 2025, up from 77,070 in 2024.
The board also released results for over 41,000 underage candidates and reiterated that while their scores are available, they remain ineligible for admission due to age restrictions.
This has been previously stated during registration.
