Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage has opened up about her admiration for American R&B icon Usher Raymond.
She describes him as a “lovely and professional” individual during a recent interview with Rebecca Judd on Apple Music 1.
In a candid and warm conversation, the multi-award-winning Nigerian singer reflected on her evolving journey as one of Africa’s most celebrated music exports.
She spoke about the honour and excitement of being invited on stage by Usher during his electrifying sold-out performance at London’s iconic O2 Arena.
Tiwa Savage recalled it wasn’t her first time sharing the stage with the music legend, as she had also performed alongside him at the Global Citizen Festival in Ghana.
However, she said the O2 experience held a particularly special place in her heart.
“That was the second time; the first was at Global Citizen in Ghana,” she explained.
“But this one was extra special. I was so nervous, but Usher is just so lovely and professional. He made it so easy and comfortable for me.”
Her praise for Usher extends beyond the stage, noting his warm personality and calm presence, which she said helped ease her nerves during the high-pressure event.
The ‘Somebody’s Son’ hitmaker is known for her genre-blending sound and commanding stage presence.
