Resumption of the 2020/2021 English Premier League season is only a few days away, and every club would be taking advantage of the off-season to get their teams into shape to meet their targets.

For some, a push for the title is on the cards while others will settle for a place in Europe. Some other clubs will be comfortable with just staying up and reaping the benefits of TV deals.

The London side have already begun working on new signings to improve upon their 8th place finish last season.

The addition of Willian and William Saliba to the team that won the FA cup, is a clear indication of ambition.

Willian brings years of experience to an attack that is loaded with youth. The pacy Brazilian has won titles at Chelsea, and hopes to add the UCL to his collection.

Saliba, on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air to an underperforming defence. The young talent from the French league has been touted to make an instant impact in the Premier League alongside Pablo Mari or another defensive recruit.

Although business has been done in certain areas, the club still isn’t ready to compete at the highest level.

The club still needs to do business in the middle of the park after ostracizing Matteo Guendouzi, and losing Dani Ceballos to Real Madrid.

The need for more steel in the midfield cannot be overemphasized. Granit Xhaka will need some European experience and quality beside him to protect the backline and feed the ball forward.
