Nigerian rapper‑activist Falz has delivered a scathing rebuke to President Bola Tinubu.
He accused him of failing in his most basic duty to protect citizens after the latest round of mass killings in Benue State.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter) on 16 June 2025, Falz condemned what he called a “repeated pattern of government negligence,” declaring:
“You have consistently shown that you are incapable of performing the primary duty of securing the lives and property of your citizens. This routine statement does not cut it.”
Falz’s outburst follows national outrage over attacks in Benue that reportedly left more than 200 people dead.
Eyewitnesses linked the violence to suspected herdsmen.
Critics argue that government responses have been slow and largely reactive.
After intense social‑media pressure heightened by the Pope’s earlier expression of sympathy, President Tinubu finally addressed the killings in his own X post, vowing decisive action:
“Enough is enough! I have directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute perpetrators on all sides of the conflict.”
He also urged Benue leaders to pursue dialogue and reconciliation.
He calls on Governor Hyacinth Alia to “act as a statesman” to restore peace.
While the president’s statement offered reassurances, many Nigerians, Falz included, say it came too late and lacks concrete measures to stem the escalating violence.
