President Bola Tinubu has dismissed fears of turning Nigeria into a one-party state.

While speaking at a special joint session of the National Assembly for Democracy Day, the president described such claims as baseless and politically driven.

As dawn broke over a nation yearning for relief, President Bola Tinubu marked this year’s Eid-el-Kabir with a message of cautious optimism.
Furthermore, he reaffirmed his commitment to democratic plurality, recalling his stance as the lone progressive governor in the South-West during the 2003 political turbulence, vowing never to support any scheme threatening Nigeria’s democracy.

The President welcomed recent defections to the APC, including governors of Delta and Akwa Ibom, but maintained that parties losing members should focus on addressing their internal challenges.

Also, Tinubu highlighted achievements under his administration, including steady GDP growth, reduced inflation, a stabilised naira, and the success of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CrediCorp), which has provided affordable loans to over 100,000 Nigerians.

He announced a new initiative to extend credit to 400,000 youths and NYSC members starting next month, alongside a nationwide fibre optic cable rollout to enhance digital access.

However, on security, Tinubu commended the Armed Forces for their sacrifices and pledged continued investment in advanced technology and improved inter-agency coordination.
