No fewer than 13 people were reportedly kidnapped in Maigamji, a community in the Funtua Local Government Area in Katsina State after gunmen suspected to be terrorists invaded a mosque during the weekend.

iBrandtv gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday night and residents had since been in fear after the attack.
According to the State Police Command spokesperson, Gambo Isah, the terrorist stormed the area shooting sporadically at the worshippers who were forced to flee for safety.
The people were observing the last prayer of the day when the terrorists invaded the mosque.
An Imam and other worshippers reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.
Reports, however, said that the security operatives later rescued six among the 13 kidnapped persons.
“It’s true. Two persons were injured. They kidnapped 13 so far, and we are still looking for them. Six of the kidnapped persons have been rescued by the combined efforts of the police vigilante.

The attack happened in Maigamji in Funtua LGA. It happened on Saturday night when the worshippers were praying inside the mosque; that was the last Ishai prayer,” Isah said.
He explained that those who sustained injuries had been taken to the Funtua General Hospital and were in stable condition as of reporting time.
