Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has attributed the team’s early exit from the women’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympics to inadequate preparation.
Nigeria was eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday after a 3-1 defeat to Japan, following earlier losses to Brazil and Spain in the group stage.
In an interview with ESPN, Waldrum expressed frustration over the team’s preparation time. “We prepared for them (all three opponents) based on the fact that we haven’t had a lot of time,” he said.
“We missed the last window before the Olympics, and so we missed 10 days of good training before the Olympics.”
Reports indicate that the Falcons’ preparations were further hampered by visa issues, which delayed the arrival of some invited players to the training camp.
