In Nigeria, industrial growth and economic development depend on one key factor: a stable energy supply.

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) recently highlighted this at the pre-manufacturer’s Energy Security Summit in Lagos, emphasising that without reliable power, the country’s manufacturing sector cannot thrive.

According to MAN president, Francis Meshioye, Nigeria’s energy challenges—such as inconsistent power, poor infrastructure, and high energy costs, are major barriers to industrialisation.

Additionally, These issues, he explained, hinder productivity, deter investment, and limit job creation.

Moreover, “energy security is crucial for industrial growth and economic development,” Meshioye stressed, adding that resolving these issues would reduce manufacturing costs, boost competitiveness, and unlock new opportunities for Nigerians.

Also, Meshioye also called for increased collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve energy security.

Furthermore, the event, set for November 19 to 21, 2024, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, will bring together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore solutions for ensuring energy availability.

It will feature discussions on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and the policy frameworks needed to support manufacturing growth.

In conclusion, Meshioye emphasised that solving Nigeria’s energy issues is essential to unlocking the full potential of the manufacturing sector, ensuring economic prosperity, and creating jobs for Nigerians.
