Nigerian singer Skales recently addressed accusations of betraying his former label mate, Wizkid.
It was during an online exchange that has sparked conversation among fans.
The controversy began when Skales took to X (formerly Twitter) to promote his upcoming album, Martina’s Son.
In the midst of the promotion, a user with the handle @aurora94212924 accused Skales of turning against Wizkid by befriending the Grammy-winning artist’s rivals in an attempt to spite him.
Skales, however, was quick to clarify the situation.
Also, he responded by explaining that, contrary to popular belief, he and Wizkid were never particularly close friends, despite both being signed to Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) during their early careers.
He revealed that their relationship was strictly professional and centered around their shared work at the label.
Skales went further to state that Wizkid simply does not like him, but he never harbored any ill feelings toward the star nor “switched” sides against him.
Frustrated with the ongoing narrative, Skales expressed that he feels misunderstood by many in the industry.
Also, he pointed out that, while he has been a blessing to numerous people within the music scene, he continues to face unwarranted criticism and accusations.
