Rema, now 24, expressed that his fame has subjected him to scrutiny for actions that would typically be forgiven in someone his age.

He said, “I just want to be a child again, and it’s coming out naturally.”

“Kids make mistakes, and it’s acceptable, but when you’re famous and make the same mistake, everyone criticizes you because you’re in the limelight.”

Reflecting on his decision to start smoking, Rema added, “I know people who smoked their first cigarettes at 13, and I’m 24.”

“I smoke because I want to feel free, to be a rebel, and to break some rules. My life feels too planned, and I needed to find some freedom, which I’ve channeled into my music.”
