Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde narrowly escapes death in a car crash involving his convoy, on Wednesday.

The governor was returning to Ibadan from Saki where he had attended a town hall meeting with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discuss his re-election bid.

A driver attached to his convoy, Ramon Mustapha, died ok the spot after the vehicle he was in, tumbled several times.

IBrandTV learned that the vehicle with code name ‘Zebra 4’ contained some bags of rice belonging to members of the convoy, all of which were thrown off while the vehicle somersaulted.

A source said the death of the driver could have been prevented if he had been using his seat belt, which he didn’t.

Another source, a part of the convoy, who pleaded anonymity, said the diver had smashed his head in the accident.

In accordance with Islamic rites, the remains of the driver were busiest at his residence in Amuloko, Ibadan, on Wednesday.
