School Re-opening: UBEC donates 19,000 facemasks, other PPEs to Nasarawa

The Universal Basic Education Board, UBEC, has donated 19,000 facemasks and other protective items for distribution to primary schools in Nasarawa State.

This came following the re-opening of schools in the state after the outbreak of COVID19,

It would be recalled that the state government had ordered resumption of all schools last Monday, October 5.

Chairman, State Universal Basic Education board, SUBEB, Muhammed Dan- Azumi disclosed this while briefing Journalists in Lafia.

According to Dan-Azumi, the items would be distributed to the 1,411 primary schools across the 13 LGAs to safeguard the pupils from the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Other items donated according to the state Chairman of NSUBEB include 5,233 buckets and 2,822 cartons of hand sanitizers.

The chairman said each of the schools would receive two cartons of hand sanitizers and three buckets while every pupil would get a face mask.

“There is a template from Federal Ministry of Education on how we should conduct ourselves in both secondary and primary schools according to COVID-19 protocols”.

He disclosed that the state has taken measures to ensure that only qualified teachers are allowed to teach in the state adding that the board is collaborates with UBEC to ensure training and retraining of teachers and supportive Staff.
