Despite the risk associated with scooping of fuel from a fallen tanker and even with the recent explosion in Jigawa which left over 200 people dead, residents of Cross Rivers State said they will never stand by and watch free fuel go to waste.
It was a busy day in Akamkpa, a small village in Cross River State.
Residents were busy going about their usual business when all of a sudden a tanker transporting petrol fell by the roadside.
This tragic incident however presented an opportunity for the locals who immediately rushed the scoop the petrol into various jerry cans and containers despite the danger attached to such practices.
The incident was recorded and shared online by a road user who lamented the dangers of such act.

As seen in the video, some of those scooping the fuel even reprimanded another individual who was recording the process with his phone camera in a moving vehicle and warned them of the dangers inherent in their action.
This incident comes a few days after Nigerians witnessed a similar incident in Jigawa where close to 200 lives were lost and many others injured as residents were scooping fuel from a fallen tanker.
