The fabric unveil from Remi Tinubu is whipping up reactions from Nigerians online.

Nigerians have taken to social media to air their opinions after the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, unveiled the OneNigeria/UnityFabric, which she described as a symbol of national unity.

Remi TinubuWhile unveiling the fabric at a ceremony held on Monday at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, Mrs. Tinubu explained that the concept of a national fabric was inspired by her visit to Zimbabwe in December 2023, where she saw a similar initiative.

Mass Production

At the launch of the fabric, Mrs. Tinubu said the new national fabric would be worn across the country to celebrate the Independence Day Anniversary on October 1, 2024.

She disclosed that the fabric would be mass-produced by local manufacturers to stimulate local textile industries, create jobs, and boost the economy.

This initiative has received mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media.

While some Nigerians applaud the initiative, others argue that the timing is wrong.

They claim that many Nigerians are hungry, jobless and battling with a number of issues including the hike in the cost of living.
