Rema, has praised veteran singer D’banj for helping Afrobeat become popular around the world especially in the United Kingdom.
During his sold-out concert at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday, June 8, 2025, Rema brought D’banj on stage and thanked him for leading the way.

He also mentioned D’banj’s hit song from 2012, Oliver Twist, which was the first Nigerian song to enter the UK’s official top 10 music chart.
That success helped other Afrobeat songs find their way onto global charts.
Rema didn’t stop there. He also thanked producer Don Jazzy, who worked with D’banj in the early years.
said both of them opened the doors for today’s Nigerian stars to shine.
Speaking from the heart, he told the crowd:
“If D’banj never existed, I would never have existed. I love you for life.”
The crowd cheered loudly at his words, showing support for everything he said.
The concert, which drew over 20,000 fans, was filled with surprise guest appearances, great visuals, and performances that showed just how far Rema has come in a short time.
