Popular Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, widely known as M.I, has admitted that supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 was a mistake.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Menism podcast, the rapper said he backed the APC because he believed the then-ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was corrupt.
However, he now feels the APC has not lived up to expectations.
“I tweeted about what happened in Benue with the herdsmen attacks, and people reminded me that I supported the APC,” M.I said.
He continued, “Yes, I supported APC because at that time, I felt that the PDP government was very corrupt. I was part of the people who raised their voices to call for change and stronger democracy.
But as humans, no matter how much we try to do what is right, sometimes we make mistakes. APC unfortunately isn’t the APC of my dreams.”
M.I also said he is now more focused on using his music and platform to work with other young people in building a better Nigeria.
