The South Korean music industry has been struck by tragedy as renowned singer Wheesung was found dead in his apartment.
His management confirmed on Tuesday.
In an official statement, his agency, Tajoy Entertainment, expressed their grief: “Artist Wheesung has left us. Our staff and colleagues are in deep sorrow”.
According to reports, emergency responders discovered the 43-year-old musician unconscious at approximately 6:29 pm on Monday after his mother raised the alarm and called for help.
However, authorities have indicated that a significant amount of time had already passed since his death before his body was found.
Also, as a result, an autopsy has been requested to determine the exact cause.
Wheesung, a beloved figure in the South Korean music scene, was set to perform in Daegu this coming Saturday alongside fellow singer KCM.
In what would now be his final social media post, the artist had excitedly shared an update about his upcoming appearance.
He wrote: “Weight loss completed. See you on March 15″.
Also, his sudden passing has left fans and colleagues devastated, with tributes pouring in from across the industry.
He is known for his soulful vocals and emotional ballads.
Wheesung carved out a successful career spanning decades.
