A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Mogaji Wale Oladoja on Monday, berated a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN) over his attack on Governor Seyi Makinde.
Akintola, during a programme on a private radio station in Ibadan, at the weekend, had said the governor was not doing enough to curtail COVID-19 pandemic in the state, urging him to learn from his counterparts in other states.
Oladoja said Akintola as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), should have appreciated the style of leadership of Makinde, rather than playing undue dirty politics because of his 2023 ambition.
The Mogaji, in a statement issued in Ibadan, said it was obvious that the Federal Government appreciated the way Makinde handled the issue of COVID-19 by imposing curfew between the hours of 7pm and 6am, adding that, that was why the President adopted the same model nationwide.

He noted that Akintola has showed that he did not love the people of the state by advising the governor to impose total lockdown in Oyo State, urging him to support the government for maximum delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.
He said: “it is unfortunate that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and a calibre of Chief Niyi Akintola could take our amiable governor who is trying to protect the people of the state to cleaners. To put the record straight, Makinde refused to lockdown the state because of the love he has for the people of the state.”
“The Federal Government appreciated this and that was why the President adopted his model by imposing curfew between 7pm and 6am which is fair enough for the people of the state.”
“We therefore advise Akintola and other APC leaders who are working against the interest of the state to kindly support Makinde for the betterment of the state, rather than finding fault of the governor,” he added.
