The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that it would hold former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, responsible for any loss the party suffers in coming elections in Lagos State and other parts of the South-West.

It issued a seven-day ultimatum to Fayose to retract and apologize for a statement which it described as an attempt to invite youths against elderly chieftains in the state.

The party said if he failed to do so, he would be declared personal non grata in all its activities from Monday 12th October, 2020.

The PDP made this known in a statement issued by its spokesman, Taofik Gani, today.

The statement made by Fayose was one given at a party function in Oregun area of Lagos.

There, he advised party leaders and members to send former Deputy National Chairman of the Party, Chief Olabode George, to compulsory political retirement for the party to make progress in the state.

In the PDP’s remarks, it said it initially took the comments lightheartedly, believing that it would help the party win the coming bye-election as similar actions occured in Edo state with Governor Godwin Obaseki, but it had now distanced itself from the position of Fayose, saying it needed the support of all party leaders and members.

“We are nearing very important elections in the state to take us into winning Lagos State in 2023 general elections. We need all togetherness and complimentary efforts possible of the old, young, male, female.

“It is thus shocking that a supposed leader would come to our state to ‘tear’ us apart rather than give positive and progressive uniting advice to us,” PDP said.

“We will hold Fayose responsible for any future election loss in Lagos State and indeed the South-West,” the party vowed.
