Oprah Winfrey recently found herself at the centre of a surprising claim. The Washington Examiner reported that she had been paid $1 million to campaign for Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s candidate in the just-concluded US presidential election.
According to the report, Oprah’s company, Harpo Productions, received a hefty paycheck to host a celebrity town hall event for Harris in September.
But Oprah wasn’t having any of it. The talk show legend swiftly set the record straight, making it clear that she had never accepted a dime for her involvement.
“Not true. I was paid nothing, ever,” Oprah told TMZ, firmly putting the rumours to rest.
Despite the swirling controversy, Oprah chose not to address the results of the election, which saw Republican nominee Donald Trump emerge as the President-elect.
Instead, she focused on clearing up the misunderstanding, keeping her personal views on the political outcome private.
