Datti Baba-Ahmed, the running mate to Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, has said that Obi is not against oil production in Northern Nigeria.
Baba-Ahmed at a press conference, on Thursday, revealed that there have been rumors circulating on this issue and they are not true.

In his words,” Recently, for example, there was a false narrative being spread nationwide that his excellency, Mr. Peter Obi was against the production of oil in the north. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
“His excellency, Peter Obi repeatedly stated at various local and international forums that the greatest physical asset of Nigeria is the vast rich land in the north and declared his commitment as a visionary transformative leader to exploit same for the overwhelming benefit of the Nigerian people.”
Baba-Ahmed went ahead to list the benefits of oil production in the north to the economy.
The running mate also discussed Tinubu’s refusal to mention Peter Obi’s name at a campaign, in Delta state, claiming it was a disgrace for him to do so.
This statement was tagged as ‘most unpresidential, indecorous and disrespectful’.
