The Nigerian film industry has been plunged into mourning, following the death of Yoruba actor Yusuf Olorungbebe.
The beloved actor reportedly passed away after a prolonged battle with a chronic illness.
His death was confirmed on Wednesday morning by popular actress Foluke Daramola, who took to her Instagram page to share the heartbreaking news.
“We lost YUSUF OLORUNGBEBE. We submit to God’s will,” Foluke Daramola wrote.
She expressed her grief and paid tribute to her late colleague.
In the days leading up to his death, Foluke had made a public appeal on social media, asking Nigerians to come to the aid of the ailing actor.
She shared a poignant video of Yusuf Olorungbebe lying on a hospital bed.
Also, he was connected to life support.
In her plea, she asked Nigerians to contribute financially to help cover the costs of his medical treatment.
Also, she emphasised that no amount was too small in the effort to save his life.
Despite the outpouring of support from fans and colleagues, Yusuf Olorungbebe sadly succumbed to his illness.
He leaves behind a legacy in Nollywood and a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
