The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Mathew Hassan Kukah has urged Tinubu government to find solutions to the fuel price hike as Nigerians are going hungry.
He emphasised that Nigerians are struggling with hunger and economic hardship, making it imperative for the government to take action.
Cleric Appeal To Tinubu
The cleric made the call while delivering his goodwill message as the APC launches the Progressive Institute (TPI) on Friday, aiming to address the country’s challenges.
Appealing to the President Bola Tinubu-led government, the cleric said: “We Nigerians are hungry. Find a way of reducing the price of fuel.
“Unless democracy is anchored on sound foundation, we will be building on sand.
“I am concerned about the quality of democracy in Nigeria. We need to fix the problem with democracy in Nigeria.”
Bishop Kukah’s plea highlights the need for the government to prioritise the welfare of its citizens amidst the ongoing economic difficulties.
He said: “I have always said that I am not a politician but I am political. I am not a member of the APC.
