Nigeria is keen to record their first victory of the qualifying campaign. They are presently sitting fifth in Group C.

The Super Eagles’ first three games against South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho have ended in draws.

At the Godwin Akpabio Stadium, their most recent game against South Africa resulted in a 1-1 tie.

Coach Finidi George expressed his dissatisfaction with the draw against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, but he is optimistic that the Super Eagles can rally and raise their chances of qualifying.

“We dropped points and that should not break us, a positive result will change the narrative.”

“It is not the best result we wanted, we have to get our heads up and work for the next game (Benin).”

A victory over Benin Republic, who now sit second in Group C with four points, will greatly improve Nigeria’s status and resurrect their
aspirations for the World Cup.
