The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Western Zone has described as illegality, ultra vires, null and void the purported proscription of staff unions by the governing council of the Ekiti State University, announced on Saturday.
Describing the decision as ‘April fool pranks circulated in the month of April’, the association urged its members in Ekiti State University to continue to abide by the instructions of their branch leadership and ignore the attempts by ‘despots and tyrants’ to turn them to slaves in their own homelands.
The National Vice-President (SSANU), Western Zone, Comrade Abdussobur Salaam while presenting a seven point demands in a statement called on Governor Kayode Fayemi to intervene by removing Prof Tale Omole led governing council.
Salaam who maintained that, the reason for the proscription was spurious and a blatant misrepresentation of the realities on the ground, saying that, the unions had embarked on series of protests which are their legitimate rights as workers to call attention to the activities as it endangered lives and properties.
