The newly adopted national anthem is causing a stir not just on social media but in real life.

Nigerians including students and even teachers are having a hard time trying to switch from the well-known “Arise O Compatriots” to “Nigeria we hail thee.”

Memorising the lyrics of the “Nigeria we hail thee” anthem is most likely not a day’s job.

Reacting to this change, a female school teacher and language instructor, Ayobami Fakunle, shared her funny experience with students on the assembly ground this morning, May 30, 2024.

In the Facebook post she shared, she made mention of the fact that it is the school’s tradition for students to lead the activities done on the Assembly ground on Thursdays.

“The assembly started at exactly 7:30 a.m. It was led by two students in the Senior Secondary School.

“The tradition here is that students are expected to lead the assembly on Thursdays.

“Everything went smoothly from the praise and worship, to the singing of hymn, sermon, to prayer.

“The students who led the assembly, after they had prayed, asked those on the line to take dressing and stand right for the National Anthem.

“Laslas, the assembly scattered when it was time to sing the National Anthem. 🤣

“Those leading the assembly skipped the anthem and moved straight to the Oyo State Anthem and the school anthem.

“In conclusion, our dear national anthem was not sung today.

“We go again tomorrow.

“#NigeriaweHailThee”, she said.

Reacting to her story, other educators commented that they had the same experience in school with their students.
