Nigerian social media activist Vincent Otse Martins, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reignited the conversation surrounding the tragic death of late singer Mohbad.
He releases an alleged voice recording involving music promoter Sam Larry and singer Zlatan Ibile.
In the now-viral clip shared on VDM’s Instagram page, Zlatan is reportedly heard speaking in Yoruba with Sam Larry.
He expresses hesitation to get involved publicly in the heated controversy that followed Mohbad’s sudden death in 2023.
Zlatan allegedly cited the backlash and drama often associated with speaking out on social media as reasons for his silence.
Taking a firm stance, VDM issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Zlatan to publicly clarify his position
He should explain why he remained silent during the early days of the #JusticeForMohbad campaign.
He also slammed critics who questioned his decision to revisit the case.
“I’m bringing this case back because many of you have already moved on. That’s exactly why the government doesn’t take us seriously — because we forget too quickly,” VDM said in the video.
VDM continued by addressing those who, according to him, knew the truth but used intimidation and social media influence to suppress it.
“Some of you bullied the public into silence. Zlatan, you were quiet while the boy’s spirit is still roaming. Mohbad hasn’t even been buried yet, and people are trying to forget.”
Reaffirming his dedication to the cause, VDM declared he was reopening the fight for justice:
“I’ve restarted this case. If you don’t like it, go into the bush. Anyone asking why I brought this back is not real. You didn’t want justice — you wanted peace and silence.”
While the leaked audio has reignited interest in the case, reactions have been mixed.
Some netizens supported Zlatan’s decision to remain quiet.
They cited possible personal or legal constraints, while others demanded transparency and accountability from all celebrities linked to the late singer.
