Mohamed Salah has been crowned Premier League Player of the Season, following a standout campaign that saw the Liverpool forward score 28 goals and register 18 assists—five more than any other player.
The 32-year-old Egyptian heads into Liverpool’s final fixture against Crystal Palace just two assists short of matching the single-season record jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
This is the second time Salah has received the prestigious honour, having first claimed it in the 2017–18 season. His latest win ends Manchester City’s four-year streak of dominance in the award category.
The last non-City player to win it was Salah’s Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk in 2018–19.
Salah was selected by a combination of public votes and a panel of football experts.
He beat van Dijk, Gravenberch, Rice, Gibbs-White, Wood, Isak, and Mbeumo.
Earlier this month, the Football Writers’ Association named Salah Player of the Year with a record 90% of votes.
