Sometimes, critics go above and beyond to prove their points when they mock an individual who they presume is not doing well. Award-winning Nigerian music star, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, is one person on that table now.
Some persons have taken time to monitor his YouTube views and compare it with that of other artistes.

Now, Mr P has issued a bold and insightful response to these ‘views-comparing’ online trolls and critics.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), the singer stressed the importance of organic growth and genuine fan engagement over inflated view counts.
Mr P, one-half of the iconic music duo, P-Square, addressed the ongoing chatter about the number of views on his solo track “ODO”
The song currently boasts over 1.2 million views, nearly 50,000 likes, and more than 5,000 comments.
‘Rather Grow Organically’
He emphasised that while some artistes may chase numbers through artificial means, he prefers to build a loyal and engaged audience.
“Team P! We are not in any competition with anybody! So, stop disturbing us by comparing YouTube views,” he wrote.
“I can easily buy 20 million views in less than 1 hour! But I would rather grow organically and get real engagement and real fans.”
Mr P’s remarks highlight a growing concern in the music industry about the superficial obsession with views and virality. This is often at the expense of authentic connections with audiences.
By focusing on meaningful metrics such as likes, comments, and fan interactions, he reinforces the value of sustainable artistry over short-term clout.
The “ODO” singer went on to thank his fans for their unwavering support.
Also, he encouraged them to stay focused on the journey, not the competition.
