Mike Maignan’s future at AC Milan remains unresolved as Chelsea continue to monitor his situation after a failed transfer attempt.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Milan are preparing to begin contract renewal discussions with Maignan. The French goalkeeper’s future remains uncertain after a near move to Chelsea collapsed late in negotiations.
However, the Italian club are planning a new approach this week to convince Maignan to stay at San Siro beyond his current deal.
Maignan’s contract situation has become increasingly complex. Initial promises of a renewal have not materialised into a formal agreement, and while Milan remain intent on keeping the 29-year-old, Maignan is reportedly still considering a future move to the Premier League.
Chelsea reportedly discussed the option of a fee transfer in 2026, though no deal has been finalised.
Massimiliano Allegri, the new Milan manager, is also eager to keep Maignan at the team and will try to convince him under his project rebuilding the squad.
Maignan has been Milan’s top-choice goalkeeper since joining from Lille in 2021. He has played 163 games for the Italian team.
In the 2024-25 season, he appeared in 37 games for Milan in Serie A and conceded 41 goals while managing 13 clean sheets.

Maignan is expected to hold talks with Allegri and club directors early this week.
Milan aim to formalise a renewal offer, while Chelsea may revisit their interest depending on how the situation evolves.
No immediate agreement is in place, and the option of a free transfer next year remains open.
