French footballer, Kylian Mbappe has broken the World Cup under 24 goal record set by football legend, Pele.

Mbappe at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, scored his 8th goal before the age of 24, surpassing the 7-goal record set by Pele.

Mbappe made his football debut at the age of 17 and became the youngest player for France to score at the 2018 FIFA World Cup at 18.

He was also the second teenager to score in the World Cup final after Pele in 2018 and was voted as the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player and French Player of the Year for all his efforts.

So far, in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Mbappe has already scored 4 goals making him the current top scorer in the tournament.

The French footballer currently has nine World cup career goals alongside Lionel Mesi and one goal ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Only a few footballers have come close to Pele’s record before Mbappe, including Argentina’s Mario Kempes who had 6 World Cup goals before 24, and Colombia’s James Rodriguez who also had 6 goals before the age of 24.
