Bello Matawalle, the governor of Zamfara State, has started training the recently hired Community Protection Guards in order to combat bandits successfully.

In his remarks at the flag-off ceremony in Gusau for the training of the recently hired Community Protection Guard, Matawalle indicated that his administration was preparing to impose new security measures.
In order to combat insurgency in the state, the governor claimed that his administration has developed extra strategies, one of which being the hiring of Community Protection Guards in each of the state’s 19 Emirate Councils.

He claimed that his administration’s willingness to explore all possibilities for dealing with the rising act of banditry that was resulting in fatalities, exorbitant suffering, and roiling communities was the driving force behind the decision to establish Community Protection Guards.
