Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has explained why Cole Palmer was substituted early in the second half of his team’s 2-0 win over Servette on Thursday.
The attacking midfielder was seen heading down the tunnel while holding the back of his leg at full-time after the Conference League win against the Swiss side.
This sparked fears of a possible injury for the man who scored 25 goals for the Blues in all competitions last season.
While Maresca says the 22-year-old was struggling with some discomfort, the new manager downplayed the severity of the issue as he expects Palmer to be available for the Stamford Bridge team’s next game.
“Cole, he felt something but he looks fine,” Maresca said at a press conference.
“They have already checked him. He looks fine, he is okay.
“Hopefully there is no problem and he can be involved in Sunday’s game.”

Palmer will hope to be involved again when the London club visit Wolves in their next Premier League game on Sunday.
A week later, they will come up against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
