Grammy-nominated Afrobeat artiste Made Kuti has revealed that material possessions hold little value to him, especially when it comes to acquiring luxury cars.
In a candid chat with Pulse, the musician attributed his minimalist mindset to the influence of his father, Femi Kuti.
He explains that he was raised to focus on values beyond materialism.
“I’ve never cared much for materialistic things,” Made said.
“Maybe it’s how my dad raised us, but I genuinely don’t understand the logic behind owning seven or eight cars. You can only drive one at a time. Besides, they’re depreciating assets — they lose value quickly.”
He added that while others may find joy in accumulating luxury items, he simply doesn’t see the appeal.
“To me, it’s weird, but I understand that it might be someone else’s passion.”
