Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed he will not watch Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United, because Jurgen Klopp’s side are too far ahead for the result to matter.

City trail Liverpool by 14 points in the title race and Guardiola has given up hope of lifting the trophy for a third year in a row.

United, the only side to take points off Liverpool this season, travel to Anfield on Sunday.

But Guardiola will use his time to brush up on Sheffield United, who his team face at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

“They’ve won 21 of 22 games and they’d be leading all the leagues around the world.

“It would be nice to focus on Wilfried Zaha and Crystal Palace, and then Tuesday we have Sheffield United.

“Being so far away means it’s not interesting to look at what Liverpool do.

“It’s better to focus on what we can do for the rest of the season in the Premier League and other competitions,” Guardiola told reporters.
