The Ikeja Unique Lions Club said it would continue to support the Lagos State Government on beautification of the environment, toward a cleaner environment and healthy living.

The President of the club, Mr Matthew Obasohan, made this known during the beautification of Alausa Secretariat roundabout in Ikeja on Saturday.

Obasohan said that the environment was one of the cardinal focus of the club, saying that the beautification of the roundabout was to support the state government in maintaining a clean and neat environment.

He said that the club would also ensure that the roundabout got necessary maintenance.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the club, Mr Stephen Onojomete, said that the beautification exercise was unique in the sense that the roundabout was situated at the centre of the state capital.

”This project is strategically located to pass the message to those in power that much is expected from them in giving back to the society.

”Lionism is about giving back to the society and touching lives of the less privileged in the society,” Onojomete said.

Mr Wesley Kafadiya, the District Governor of Lions Club International District 404,.B2 , while inaugurating the project, said that the environment was within the five cardinal objectives of the club.

”As you can see, we believe in a clean environment and making environment more friendly.

”If you look at the project, it is of a high standard, which will make the environment to be more attractive,” Kafadiya said.

Mrs Blessing Umebali, the Region 6 Chairperson, Ikeja Unique Lions, said that the beautification of the roundabout would add colours and aesthetic value to the environment.

Umebali added that the place would also serve as a relaxation centre for the people. (NAN)
