Nigeria's govt blames Twitter, Jack Dorsey over EndSars losses

President Muhammadu Buhari has set up a team of ministers to negotiate with Twitter over the ban issued by the Ministry of Information and Culture.

Members of the team include Babatunde Raji Fashola, Minister for Works and Housing; Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice; Isa Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy; Chris Ngige, Minister for Labour and Employment; and Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The team will be chaired by Alhjai Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the composition of the Federal Government’s team to engage with Twitter over the recent suspension of the operations of the microblogging and social networking service in Nigeria,” Segun Adeyemi, spokesman to Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, announced in a statement.

According to the statement, the move follows “Twitter’s letter to President Buhari seeking to engage with the Federal Government over the suspension, with a view to charting a path forward”.
