LAGOS TRADING COMMUNITY CONDEMNS LEKKI TOLL GATE KILLINGS

The leadership and entire members of Market Leaders and Traders’ Association of Nigeria,Lagos State Chapter, MALETAN the umbrella body of market associations in Lagos State, condemns in its entirety, the unwarranted killing of unarmed and peaceful #ENDSARS protesters on Tuesday October 20th, 2020, who have been keeping peaceful vigils for over a week at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State.

MALETAN is more alarmed and shocked that the killings were allegedly carried out by officers of Nigeria army,who are paid with Nigerian tax payers’ money,including taxes paid by the #EndSars protesters,who they are supposed to protect.

MALETAN, condoles with the families and relatives of those who lost loved ones in the gun attack,praying for the repose of the departed souls and quick recovery on those nursing various degrees of injuries from the gun attack, in different medical facilities in Lagos State.

MALETAN, calls on the international community to weld into this terrible incidence and call the Nigerian government to account.

MALETAN, calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to thoroughly investigate the killings and ensure that the trigger happy military officers are brought to book in the nearest future.

MALETAN, appeals to Nigerian youths not to be provoked into violence by the unnecessary killings, but continue to employ peaceful approach to press for their legitimate agitations for police reforms and good governance in Nigeria, as they have done since the #ENDSARS protest started.

MALETAN also ask her members affected in one way or the other by the unfortunate incidence, not to allow their spirit to be dampened but look up to the future with high hopes and expectations for a better and brighter new Nigeria.
