In Lagos, the air is buzzing with excitement, as news of the long-awaited return of the Lagos International Trade Fair spread across the city.
The Executive Director of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Vera Ndanusa, stood before an eager crowd to give them update.
First, she announced the comeback of this iconic event after 14 years of silence.
For a city known as the commercial heartbeat of Nigeria, this is more than just a trade fair.
It is a sign of revival, a promise of growth, and a moment that would once again put Lagos on the global stage. Although, the buying power of the people has crashed as a result of rising inflation and poor remuneration.
Vera Ndanusa is excited that the much-anticipated Lagos International Trade Fair would return after a 14-year hiatus.
This year’s event will attract over 100,000 visitors from across the globe.
Boost To Nigerian Economy
It marks a significant moment for the Complex, which had been dormant due to a lack of political support.
Ndanusa, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Complex, emphasised the fair’s potential and how it could boost Nigeria’s economy, especially in Lagos State.
She highlights that the event will bring together a diverse group of participants.
These include business leaders, industry professionals, and consumers from various sectors.
Attendees will have the chance to explore a wide range of products, from everyday consumer goods to industrial equipment.
They will also have the opportunity to engage directly with global exhibitors.
In addition to the exhibition, the fair will feature seminars, workshops and networking opportunities.
These events aim to foster business connections and stimulate economic growth in Nigeria and beyond.
One of the main objectives is to attract foreign investments by showcasing emerging sectors and industries poised for growth.
To Reinforce Lagos’ Status
“With this relaunch, we aim to reinforce Lagos’ status as a major commercial hub in Africa, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth,” Ndanusa stated.
Key figures attended the relaunch event and among them was the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite.
She reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to repositioning the Complex as an alternative revenue source beyond oil.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, commended Ndanusa for her efforts in reviving the fair.
He assured her that the State government would continue to support these initiatives.
The organisers have scheduled the upcoming Commercial and Industrial Trade Fair from November 15 to 26, 2024.
It is set to be a major event that will foster economic growth.
The fair will also connect businesses with new opportunities.
