The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that popular clergyman, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has been interrogated following a viral video that sparked public concern.
The founder of House on the Rock Church was seen in a circulating video holding what appeared to be a gun-like object while driving an unregistered vehicle.
According to police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident drew widespread attention, prompting the clergyman to voluntarily appear before police investigators on Monday, June 17, 2025.
He was interrogated at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
“No one is above the law,” CSP Hundeyin stated. He added that investigations are ongoing and the outcome will be made public in due course.
The video in question showed Pastor Adefarasin lowering his car window to display a metallic object while speaking to another road user.
The clip went viral on social media platforms, raising questions about the object, road safety, and legal compliance.
In response to the backlash, Pastor Adefarasin explained that the object in his hand was not a firearm and was not intended to threaten or harm anyone.
He described the incident as a misunderstanding and expressed willingness to cooperate with authorities fully.
The incident has ignited debate about accountability among public figures and the importance of responsible behaviour, especially for community and spiritual leaders.
