The days of littering the streets of Lagos and dumping of waste anywhere you find is gone. Watch it before you go to jail for a situation you should have avoided.
Now, a Lagos resident, Olawale Ogunbadejo, will be dancing to the tune of the law as he has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre by a Magistrate’s Court for illegal waste disposal on a public road.
This is coming months after a ‘Lagos is smelling’ trend showed up on social media.
The Lagos is smelling trend comes to mind, as a court ordered that Olawale be remand on Wednesday, pending a trial scheduled for June 26.
The development was published on social media by Wale Ajetunmobi. He is Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Senior Special Assistant on Print Media.
“Mr Olawale Ogunbadejo, caught disposing of refuse on the road, has just been remanded in Kiri-Kiri Prison by the Magistrate’s Court till June 26,” he wrote on X.
Ogunbadejo resides at No. 25, Ajiboye Street, Alapere, in the Ketu area of Lagos. He was caught on camera dumping waste on the Alapere Link Bridge on Wednesday, May 21.
The state government earlier on Wednesday called for help in locating Ogunbadejo. It even promised a reward for anyone that can help with useful information that could lead to his arrest.
