NIGERIA Pensioners have said that the death of Mallam Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari as a result of complications from the Coronavirus infection was a wake-up call for the vulnerable retirees and all senior citizens in the country to adhere strictly to all the health and social measures by the authorities to stay alive
The pensioners under the aegis of Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPAN), have also commiserated with President Buhari, the Kyari family and entire Senior Citizens of Nigeria, on the death of the immediate past Chief of staff to the President.
In a statement in Abuja on Monday, the Pensioners expressed sadness over Mallam Kyari’s death especially as he was the first reported Corona Virus fatality of a very high profile senior citizen in the country.

The statement signed by Chief Temple Ubani, President-General of FEPPPAN said that pensioners were however consoled by his enviable legacy, his services to Nigeria and humanity.
It said, “The fate of Abba Kyari, underscores the dire need for vulnerable retirees and all senior citizens in our country to adhere to all the health and social measures advised by the authorities to stay alive.
“It is also imperative that the Federal, States and Local governments pay special attention to the needs of this category of vulnerable retirees and senior citizens alongside others.”
Ubani, reiterated his earlier call on the Federal government to find a way to provide far-reaching palliatives as part of security measures to keep Nigerian pensioners and senior citizens safe and less hungry as they stay at home while the fight against the novel Coronavirus lasts.
“We pray that the Souls of the departed fellow citizens caused by the COVID 19 pandemic Rest In Peace.,” he said.
