Vincent Kompany has received a show of support from Bayern Munich’s CEO despite losing to Aston Villa, with the German giants “having fun” this term.
There was not much of that to be found last season, with the Bundesliga heavyweights enduring a rare trophyless campaign.
A change in the dugout was made as a result, with managerial reins being handed to Manchester City legend Kompany despite seeing his Burnley side suffer relegation out of the Premier League in 2023-24.
The Belgian has made a positive start to his spell at the Allianz Arena, with Bayern dropping just two points through six games as they sit at the summit of the German top-flight.
They also scored nine goals when claiming a first Champions League win of the season over Dinamo Zagreb.
Joy
A rare wobble was endured when going down 1-0 at Villa in their latest European fixture, but Bayern CEO Jan Christian Dreesen said at his traditional banquet speech that was delivered to notable fans and sponsors, via Bild: “Vincent, we are sure that with your style of playing, your speech, your interaction with the players, you are not only causing us a little grief today, but have also given us a lot of joy in the last few games.
“It will bring us joy again.
“We are happy that you are with us.
“The way we are playing football again makes us very happy.
“We can feel that the team is having fun!”

While Bayern are enjoying themselves, Kompany is aware that he must deliver silverware in order to be considered a success.
Star striker Harry Kane will be hoping that collective targets are hit, as he seeks to bring his much-publicised wait for major honours to a close.
