Liverpool fans have lashed out at former manager Jurgen Klopp after the German accepted Red Bull’s job offer.
Jurgen parted ways with the Reds at the end of the 2023/24 season after nine years in order to enjoy a well-earned sabbatical.
However, on Wednesday it emerged he has now accepted a long-term position at Red Bull and will return to work as their Global Head of Soccer from January 1, 2025.
What The Fans Are Saying
Liverpool fans were left fuming after the news broke as they accused their beloved former coach of being a sell-out and greedy.
An X handle Merlin_0021 posted “Klopp is a HYPOCRITE.”
Andy wrote on X, “Jurgen Klopp becoming the head of a multi-club ownership model that’s literally rebranding football clubs into a marketing vehicle for its energy drink absolutely stinks.”
Swedjournalist called Klopp a ‘sell-out’ with a post that ready, “Wow!
“Klopp selling out to Red Bull multi club universe/franchise.
“Thoughts about that noble Liverpool keyboard warriors?
“I had higher thoughts about Klopp, but nothing surprises anymore.
“Another football millionaire out of touch with grassroot football.”
Marco compared Klopp’s move to Red Bull to that of Jordan Henderson’s transfer to the Saudi Pro League, “Klopp going to Red Bull feels like Henderson going to the Saudi league ngl.”
And Daniel Winter posted, “Klopp being a sell out wasn’t on my bingo card.”
However, Klopp’s new job will be a move into a strategic position where he will support the coaches of RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg and the New York Red Bulls, among other clubs in the Red Bull network.
He will also focus on further developing Red Bull teams’ playing philosophy while leveraging his network in scouting to identify coaches and young talent.
