Katsina PDP Challenges Governor Election Results, Head To CourtThe result of the governorship election in President Muhammadu Buhari’s state, Katsina, will show up in court sooner or later.

This is because the Peoples Democratic Party is not satisfied with the result.

After Saturday’s polls, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, the winner of the election on Monday.

The announcement was made after the results collation.

After the winner was announced, the PDP candidate rejected the result.

The opposition party claimed that the current administration had issued orders to every Local Government Council Chairmen requiring them to cast every vote for the APC.

In a news conference on Monday, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, the Director General of the Atiku/Lado Campaign Council, expressed his opinion that there were numerous irregularities in the election.

According to him, there were coercion and harassment of qualified voters.

Despite the low voter turnout observed in the state, Inuwa claims that the number of votes alleged to have been cast is significantly more than that of the presidential and national assembly elections.

He threatens to file a lawsuit to contest the election process and the outcome.

“We are not concerned on losing the election but of the efforts of the ruling All Progressives Congress to scuttle the democracy.

“We will go to court for the benefit of Katsina people.

“Where both the APC and the PDP got less than one million votes in the past elections, PDP having the highest.

“But now, despite the low turnout, which many people believe less than 50% of those who turned out in the past election couldn’t turn out this time around but the allocation of the votes turned out to be APC doubled its previous votes,” he explained.

It is obvious that there will be Tribunal cases on the election that will follow.

Meanwhile, Dr Dikko Radda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the governorship poll with 859,892 votes while PDP candidate, Yakubu Lado-Danmarke, scored 486,620 votes.
