Kai Havertz

Bayer Leverkusen’s German youngster, Kai Havertz, continues to attract speculation as a move to Chelsea appears to edge ever closer.

He did little to quell the rumours as he cut a disgruntled figure in his side’s 1-0 win over Scottish side, Rangers.

Havertz’s poor showing was summed up by his 6.4 rating, the worst of anyone in a Leverkusen shirt.

The player has been the subject of a longstanding interest by Chelsea, and has flirted with the idea of joining his national teammate, Timo Werner, in making the move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

It is believed that personal terms have been reached betwen Chelsea and the player, but the Blues continue to haggle over a fee with Leverkusen who are holding out for £90 million.

Chelsea have tabled a bid of around £70 million with add-ons spread over two years, but the German club held off negotiations until after the Europa League.

Leverkusen are expected to take on Inter Milan in the next round of Europa League matches after Moussa Diaby’s goal sealed a 4-1 aggregate win, but it remains to be seen if Havertz’s name will make the team sheet.
