Kagara Abduction: FG Has Deserted Us - Niger GovNiger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, has decried a lack of support from the federal government in its efforts to secure the release of 27 abducted students and 15 workers of Government College in Kagara area of the state.

He said this in a meeting with the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who arrived the state to commiserate with him.

The governor said, “At the moment, we do not feel any Federal presence here. The Inspector-General of Police sent us four mobile units but we are to shoulder the financial responsibilities. So, where is the support? There is no support from anyone.

“Yes, we had a delegation that came to visit and commiserate with us but that was all. So, we are left to ourselves.”

However, he assured of the safe return of the students and staff to their families.

“We have already made a commitment that we will bring back the children safely with or without anyone,” the governor added.

The students and staff of Kagara were kidnapped when bandits stormed the school on February 17, 2021. One student was reportedly killed by the bandits during the attack.
