The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Friday evening confirmed an additional 51 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients in the country, bringing the total number of recorded cases to 493.
This is the highest figure ever recorded by the country in a day since an Italian brought the virus into the country late February.

With the current rise, there seem to be fresh concerns for Nigerians as this development may lead to a further extension of the lockdown directive by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Meanwhile, the NCDC in a tweet on its verified handle stated that Fifty-one new cases of #COVID19 have been reported;
A break down shows that Lagos with the highest cases thus far, recorded 32 patients, followed by 6 in Kano, 5 in Kwara.
FCT, Oyo and Katsina all recorded two cases each, while Ogun and Ekiti states recorded one case respectively.

Further breakdown of the cumulative cases shows Lagos- 283, FCT- 69, Kano- 27, Osun- 20, Edo- 15, Oyo- 15, Ogun- 10, Kwara- 9, Katsina- 9, Bauchi- 6, Kaduna- 6, Akwa Ibom- 6, Delta- 4, Ondo- 3, Ekiti- 3, Enugu- 2, Rivers-2, Niger- 2, Benue- 1, and Anambra- 1.
